Food: the food at Alta is always going to be good from the cornbread appetizer to the dessert to the drinks! I was so happy I finally got to try the oxtails which they usually sell out of and I understand why they were so tender, it fell off the bone. Service: the people sitting at our reserved table were having a great time and wouldn't get up. The staff was so apologetic and took care of us. They even gave us some free champagne, which was so sweet. Our server was so nice and explained all the popular items. He knew his ish. Ambiance: Ulta is always a vibe. From the music to the people to the art it's a great place to take people from out of town. Parking: parking in this neighborhood is tough, but they have valet so you'll be OK.

We didn't have a reservation but we only wired about 10 minutes or so. We visited on a Sunday around 1:30pm and a few diners were there but it wasn't packed. Parking is limited but we found a spot on the cul de sac street right next to the restaurant. Our waiter was friendly and recommended a few dishes. We got the oxtail and grits, Mac n cheese, black eyed pea fritters, and the pancakes. Our drinks and food were all delicious. The restaurant itself is nicely decorated and clean as well. We can't wait to come back and try the dinner menu!

Black owned , I'm there ! I had the opportunity to try this establishment on my birthday! The service was amazing. Very friendly and knowledgeable of the wines. They have this neat wine flight I tried . We also had salmon , red beans and rice and cornbread. I also bought some wine just because it had a pink 50 on it. I would 100% come back.

I walked in on a weeknight and it was busy, but not so busy I wasn't able to get seated at the bar right away. I have to say I really loved my experience. The place had a chill vibe and there was a great sense of hospitality. I ordered a drink to start. Their version of a dirty martini. Delicious. As for the food, I was trying to order on the smaller side and try a few things. But I kind of stuck to the Soulfood Classics. I ordered three-piece fried chicken, some collard greens, and the cornbread. I'm not sure if it was because I was really hungry that night, but everything tasted exceptional. The food was well seasoned without being too salty. The fried chicken had a nice crunch and the cornbread and that butter was wonderful. Even for a weeknight, I would say the parking is pretty hard to come by in that area. I was able to find a spot about three blocks away though.

I came here today to grab brunch and the food and service were outstanding. Our server was very helpful, funny and just a ray of sunshine shine. They were very quick, took care of details and kept us informed every step of the way and glasses full. Between my friend and I we had two cocktails- here the mermaid and me the apothecary - mine was very ginger forward, but refreshing. I had the cornmeal pancakes with chicken and she had the oxtails with grits, collards and cornbread and we had deviled eggs to share. But as usual we tried each other's food. In order of absolute delight I would say the oxtails and grits took the award. So tender, so flavorful as a person who is team "sweet grits" these I could get behind! They were cooked perfectly and creamy. The chicken was cooked to perfection and seasoned very well. So they get my 2nd place. The pancakes were good- the syrup they came with was amazing! The cornbread fell apart as I cut it, it was good, but I like mine a little more dense less fluff. The deviled eggs and collards were good. The only reason this isn't full stars (I hate to even write this! But I hope management can take note)- we sat on the cute outdoor back patio, the vibes were perfect - but if you are a magnet for bug bites like I am you will get but. No sooner than is at down I started feeling the bites. I am guessing they are "noseeums" because I didn't see any but could feel them and definitely left with 4-5 bites all over my ankles and calves. It was sad because we wanted to stay and enjoy the food but I couldn't, I was itching and didn't want more bites. I asked if they had any spray, they didn't. I realize you can't control the outdoors so I don't what this to be on them- but maybe plant some replant plants or some natural repellants in the plant area may help. I say all this to say, don't avoid this place, the food is on point, but bring some spray or sit inside.
